Conclusion

​This class really opened doors and helped me to connect the dots in understanding the conventions of writing and composition. I can confidently say that I will take what I've learned during this course and apply it to future projects and assignments. Already, I have begun to see connections between the compositions I did in class, to the kind of composing I do recreationally. An example being, I never realized my personal Instagram account functioned as a genre of composition. I now see this account in a whole new light. My audience are those that like and follow my account, my purpose is to inform my audience of the happenings in my life, my pictures fit the rhetorical situation, and my Instagram account conventions include: hashtags, captions, pictures, videos, and followers...I could go on! Almost all aspects of composing can be applied to my life on social media, as well as to my life at home. Whether that be writing grocery lists, sending letters, or making silly videos on youtube. After everything I've done this semester, I would like to learn some more techniques to help me compose faster. Often, there was a large time constraint for assignments and I often felt very overwhelmed with my slow writing habits. I feel as though learning various ways to improve the speed of my writing will help me to improve my writing in future classes and jobs. Overall, this class has taught me that there is much more to writing and research than I thought. I will continue to use the tools I've learned in this class to better myself as a writer, and to educate those around me. Lastly, throughout this course I've met some really cool people. I couldn't help but be excited for the class knowing that my teacher had a genuine interest in the subject, and that my piers would make me laugh at some point during the day. I hope to continue to keep in touch with everyone and see where their lives take them; whether that be in, or outside the realm of research, genre, and composition.
